I found this graphic particularly relevant after my recent professional conference.
There are so many dog trainers whose only qualifications are "being around dogs a lot." And lots of dog walkers that offer dog training services, again without any formal training or behaviour modification qualifications.
Like the graphic says, experience is good, but it is no substitute for formal studies and qualifications. I would go further and say that ONGOING education is just as important in maintaining qualifications.
Don't just trust your dog training to a dog enthusiast, make sure they are a professional also!
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions on the multitude of qualifications out there. All ICB members have both qualifications and experience.
